Hi, I'm Sam.

We are here at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square

and I'm here to show you around.

[bright upbeat music]

So Chef Nobu's story goes back 30 to 40 years,

spanning different restaurants in different continents.

Eventually he ended up in L.A.

owning his Matsuhisa restaurant.

After a few years, Robert DeNiro

approached him about going into business

and it took him four years

to convince him to go into business together.

And thank goodness they did

because then they started Nobu Hotels.

And here we are, 13 hotels later.

[bright upbeat music]

So we're in the penthouse of the hotel,

one of my favorite places in the whole property.

Nobu has three main stakeholders:

Chef Nobu, Robert DeNiro and Meir Teper.

We've asked them what their favorite songs are

and then gone and bought them in vinyl

and they're here to play whenever you come and stay.

So if you don't find me in my office,

I'm gonna be here listening

to a bit of Stevie Wonder 'Superstition'.

So to be a sushi chef at Nobu restaurant,

you need to train for at least eight years.

And those sushi chefs

still report directly to Chef Nobu himself.

They also get the opportunity

to design their own dishes for the menu

and we try to keep it localized and use local ingredients.

So you may come to Portman Square

and try something that one else has tried before.

You may be in Nobu Los Cabos

and have a black cod taco.

Who knows?

[bright upbeat music]

Hey.

How are you? How you doing?

Very good, how are you?

I feel like my home.

[Sam laughs]

So this hotel and the restaurants,

you know the brand new locations, but already my chefs

so working the Berkeley street and also the managers

you know, I just saw the managers,

lot of peoples used to work there then move here.

You know, already I come here the first time

but already a lot of people know.

Hi Nobusan!. Hi, chef!.

You know, they feel like my home.

[bright upbeat music]

The hotel is designed by David Collins studio.

One of my favorite spots is the lounge,

a perfect place with its floor to ceiling windows

for a coffee in the morning or a cocktail at night.

My tip, ask Alex for a white Negroni.

With Nobu, one of our biggest brand pillars is craftmanship

and that's reflected here in the lobby

with this amazing installation by Ivan Black,

it's called Parabola.

And we watched it go up piece by piece.

It's nine meters long, 56 pieces, a whole team of people

in making this incredible installation

that really brings a life and a sense of theater

to the lobby.

So I was the first person employed by Noble Portman Square.

I was lucky enough to see this go from a construction site

to the beautiful hotel that it is now.

And most of that time I was wearing a hard hat.

But now after two years, we finally end up

with this incredible property and we couldn't be prouder.
