Previewing Laguna Art Museum’s 2019 California Cool Auction

Proceeds from the sales of over 100 works will benefit furthering the institution

At the Laguna Art Museum‘s 2019 benefit auction, California Cool, works from over 100 Californian artists are available for purchase, and every sale results in raises funds for many of the museum’s ongoing initiatives—the collection and preservation of California art, their calendar of exhibitions and art education included. With an online auction and a live auction commencing tomorrow (16 February), works from Brittney Diamond, Tom Lamb, Lindsey Warren, John Baldessari and many more are set to find homes for incredible prices—with the proceeds going directly back to the museum.

The proceeds will then primarily benefit a handful of Laguna Art Museum’s exhibitions and education programs. The latter includes outreach programs into underserved art communities, tours for children in grades K-12 and ongoing efforts to convert STEM curriculums into STEAM ones. The rest goes to funding the museum’s continuing rotation of exhibitions. Upcoming ones include Titi, Nunu, and Klembolo: Helena Modjeska’s Fairy Tale Book (3 March to 27 May) and I Will Not Make Any More Boring Art, Prints by John Baldessari (23 June to 22 September).

Bids can be placed on Artsy for the silent auction items. Bids for the live auction can be taken over the phone or done on Artsy as well—or in person at the Laguna Art Museum.
