The best karaoke bars in London

These are the best places to live out your pop-star fantasies across the capital
BAO Borough

It's safe to say the art of amateurs taking to the mic for karaoke often has a bad rep. However, these karaoke bars in London are doing things differently – and filling up weekend after weekend as a result. Gone are the days of karaoke sessions being reserved for crowded bars in holiday resorts, and in are singalong sessions in plush booths, accompanied by spreads of small plates and bottomless fizz if you so choose. From east to west, south to north, these are the best places across the city to belt out a ballad or two.

BAM Karaoke Box

Following successful launches in European cities from Bordeaux to Madrid, BAM Karaoke Box London opened its doors in raucous style in April 2024. Head past cocktail-sippers on the street-side front terrace in Victoria and down the stairs. Things darken as you descend into the subterranean lair and through the central room, where open mic nights, soulful brunches and other events take place throughout the week. BradyWilliams Studio designed the space after working on projects including The Maine and Bob Bob Ricard, so expect sultry interiors imagined with late-night singalongs and debaucherous entertainment in mind. Choose from 22 uniquely designed private karaoke rooms across 10,000 square feet, from the 30-person-capacity Peacock Room to the equestrian-inspired Button Up Room. There are 40,000 songs to choose from and lots to be said for the lively open mic events that follow in the bar, so set aside lots of time to show off those vocal skills.

Liverpool Street, Holborn and Soho are among the current London locations, and the franchise has now expanded to the shores of Brighton and Dubai. Brunch parties are ideal for special occasions, consisting of bottomless bubbles and cocktails, a gargantuan pizza and time in one of the venue’s booths.

There’s space for up to 14 wannabe pop stars in each, and the booths are positioned perfectly for one singer to take centre stage at a time. While the plump bao buns stuffed with fried chicken, beef short rib and curry cheese are a must, there are lots of other mouth-watering options – smother sweet potato chips in plum pickle ketchup and pick at glazed tofu while scanning through over 1000 Asian and Western songs.

The Four Thieves

The Four Thieves is one of those London pubs that has something for everyone. Quiz nights draw in midweek punters from across southwest London, comedy nights attract up-and-coming comics, and bottomless brunches are some of the most fun in the capital thanks to the venue’s array of retro arcade games. Unbeknown to many though, the Four Thieves is now one of the best karaoke bars in London thanks to a new addition to the line-up of activities – a private room and music system offering a classic rota of songs to belt out among friends. Hire starts from just £5 per person per hour, so it’s one of the city’s most affordable places to belt out a ballad or two – tissues at the ready.

The Old School Yard

London Bridge has long been known for its fabulous selection of classic British boozers, but the Old School Yard brought something a little different to the drinking scene when it opened, offering arcade games, themed parties, cocktail masterclasses – and private karaoke rooms. The small room fits between five and eight people, while up to 20 can squeeze into the larger space. At the bar, choose from classics such as the martini or cosmopolitan, or share the rum punch for a hit of courage before taking to the mic. Stick around for platters of fiery chicken wings, juicy burgers and bowls of dirty fries.
